KIAMA
LADIES SOCCER BEATEN 5 – 0
Last Sunday the Kiama Ladies played a disappointing game against competition leaders Oak Flats and were on the wrong end of a 5 – 0 score line.
Coach Larry Beringer was disappointed after the match as the major difference between the two sides was in goal scoring ability. The Lady Quarriers played good football in the first half and held their very experienced opponents goalless until three
minutes before half time. The goal came from a penalty and damaged the morale of the team who had battled well up
to that point.
Half time instructions were very clear for the girls – hold out and play your way back into the game. Unfortunately
the girls lost a bit of concentration and drive and conceded two easy goals. From then on it was always going
against them and Oak Flats coasted through with two late goals.
The girls put in a brave effort but overall were outclassed by Oak Flats who have won the competition for the past three years. Best players for Kiama were Hayley Beringer, Sasha Maher and goalkeeper Mel Johnston.
The Kiama Leagues Club Player of the Match was Hannah Beattie who was all over the park and battling to the end.
